  • ABC is "Set For The Rest Of Your Life"
    Wednesday, May 17, 2006
In today's upfronts, ABC has announced that in the dock-it is their new game show "Set for the Rest of Your Life." In it, couples compete for a weekly stipend. The first player could get $50. Maybe $500. Maybe $10,000 each month. It's never known. However, the second player in the isolation booth could ruin it all. Nothing like divorce on national television. Remember, this quality piece of television is probably going on inplace of "Millionaire".

And the inventor of Deal or No Deal came up with THIS? This could seriously suck.

It's also already slated for midseason; isn't that the fastest a show's been rushed from design to air since Greed?

And I meant 'start of the fall season', but my point remains.

Notice how 1 v 100 isn't being rushed to air despite being a proven format. NBC are saving it; the pessimist in me says 'for when Deal or No Deal completes the shark-jump that started with the pony offer', the optimist thinks otherwise.

I still like Deal Or No Deal. The pony was a bit overboard but the guy chasing howie for me was the annoying thing on Deal Or No Deal. this new show The Rest Of Your Life dont seem all that exciting but I may have to watch it before i judge it. This sounds like an ABC show though it reminds me of the Newlywed Game a bit a gameshow that can cause divorces. i am excited about 1 vs 100 when it comes to NBC it sounds like an exciting trivia game. I just hope that if I end up liking it along with a lot of other people then I hope they either put it on the fall schedule even though NBC has set it or bring it back in midseason around Dec or Jan. I am also wondering about Show Me The Money on Fox

I am also wondering about when ABC The Con Test will air. The Con Test sounds more exciting than Rest Of Your Life.

I dont think the pony offer on DoND was a jump-the-shark bit. What might be the shark jump on the show is that they might do a week-long celebrity edition of Deal or No Deal where C-List celebs play the game for charity. Although that sounds interesting, but look what happened to Celebrity Cooking Showdown.

I agree there dont ruin Deal Or No Deal by having celebrities on it. That is what I think ruin Millionare and Weakest Link especially Weakest Link. i remember the last season of Weakest Link I kept seeing celebrities. i think that and the fact it was on Sunday night didn't help.
