  • New Ohio Lottery Show
    Tuesday, June 13, 2006
The popular Ohio lottery game show "Cash Explosion Double Play" has recently cancelled. The lottery system in Ohio has decided on a new format called "Make Me Famous, Make Me Rich". This will feature 30 different players trying to take on the previous week's champion. "Cash Explosion Double Play" ran for nearly two decades. The new show, much like the old, will make contestants out of lucky scratch-off ticket winners.

I am surprised to hear the news considering that it was only last year when they changed the hosts and the entire set and game board... I cant imagine ratings would prompt the change since before the switch last year, they had the same set for seemingly ten years.

Ohio Lottery is going thru a LOT of changes in its lottery games ever since Ohio joined Mega Millions. We now have an impossible lotto game where you pick 6 between 00 to 99 for a chance to win 1 million then if nobody wins only goes up 100,000 each drawing.

The Lot-o'-Play game is actually five from 00 to 99, not six, and what that actually is is your ticket is a computer-generated 5x5 bingo card, and you win if you get 3, 4, or 5 in a line with the five the lottery draws. Still impossible as all hell, though; Saturday's jackpot is all the way up to $2.8 million. (Perhaps if more people played, it might see enough revenue to roll the jackpot more than $100k, and it might see a few more winners, but I digress.)

I remember watching Cash Explosion almost weekly when I was growing up, and I thought that the show had taken a turn for the worse with the new set and new hosts; add to the fact that the prize values haven't been upped in, what, seventeen, eighteen years? Hopefully this new show ups the budget a bit.

Yeah; the old set and old hosts were amazing, and actually made the mindless show worth watching. Ever since the change, with those annoying hosts and clunky segues, and very cheaply-made "computerized" board, it's like watching a train wreck, and not one of those really intense, interesting train wrecks; like when a train runs out of gas and hits a 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix at 10 MPH; that kind of train wreck. I'm looking forward to the new show.
