  • GSN Maintains Carriage on Time Warner Cable
    Wednesday, June 21, 2006
This just in: GSN announced today that they are keeping it's original position in Time Warner Cable channel lineups, including in the top two markets of New York City and Los Angeles. GSN President Rich Cronin stated "We are pleased that TIme Warner Cable recognizes the tremendous value GSN brings to its viewers. I have worked closely with many Time Warner executives over the years and I'm thrilled that we are moving foward as true partners." The release also states that GSN is having a very impressive year. It is now in over 60,000,000 homes and has the biggest ratings in all of midsize cable networks.

this has got to be some joke right. I love GSN but when they starting putting too much newer shows on at night I have become disappointed. I miss when they had classics and then new originals like Lingo, Russian Roulette and Whammy those are my three favorites. I didnt mind when they added Greed, who wants to be a millionare. but how many times must GSN run Dog Eat Dog, Greed, Weakest Link with Anne Robinson and now GSN has crap on it like Extreme Dodgeball, Ball Breakers and Kenny vs Spenny. i can live with blackjack but they ought to put it on friday or saturday night along with some other gambling games for example Card Sharks, High Rollers, Gambit throw in new gambling games with some classic gambling games. I do applaud GSN for there daytime morning programming though it has gotten much better by not running the same episode of a show 4 hours later. I think they need to get rid of inforemericals or at least put them on later say from 4-6 a.m. CST.

infomercials are needed for the network to make money so it can exist. And the primetime numbers aren't that great. 11% increase among key demos ... when probably Amazing Race alone was increasing the key demo by 50-75% in its time slot during Q1 '06 (even if the overall numbers were bad). That means the other 2 hours of primetime were suffering if they only ended up at 11% increase overall.

The daytime numbers do look good though. They needed to get rid of all the rerun abused GSN originals and just flat out poor orginals (New 3's a crowd) and get back to the classics with endless episodes.

Huh? Original channel lineup? I've got Time Warner Cable out of Raleigh, NC and for the past 2 months GSN has been bumped from its digital basic slot to the more expensive "Digital sports & games" tier (GSN being the only "Games" channel on said tier)..

So what exactly does this mean "keeping its original position"?

I work for TWC and the reason we have been given is because how much more they are moving into the sports category with Poker, Dodgeball and such.

$2.00 more for our Digital Games & Sports Tier and we have had nobody complain about it... yet.

Whoa. I didn't even know that GSN was considered a "basic" cable channel anywhere in the country. As stated, it's on the expensive tier of digital cable here in Ohio, so I don't get it.

Ohio Man, TWC puts a channel in a more expensive subscription package and you say nobody has complained about it. I don't know what position you hold but I think that's not exactly an accurate declaration.
