Ratings: Not Too Great |
Friday, June 02, 2006 |
People better start watching and writing if they want their shows back. Wednesday's "The Price is Right: Game Show Marathon" scored 5.5/10, which was apparently, according to Zap2It.com, a tad bit higher than 2nd place "Dateline". Take that how you will, a repeat of "Deal or No Deal" at 9PM scored above that at 6.8/11.
Thursday's "Let's Make A Deal: Game Show Marathon" scored 5.8/10, first place for that slot. While first place, still not entirely great. Maybe it's just my viewing, but "Let's Make A Deal" is REALLY boring. I may be jaded because of "Deal or No Deal", but oh well. GSM has a few minor issues, but by far the best thing has been Ricki. I'm obviously looking foward to the next two episodes (Beat the Clock and Press Your Luck), so keep watching.
Monday's "Deal or No Deal" was number 1 with 8.3/15, winning the entire night. |

Not too great? It won the time slot versus The Office, albeit in reruns. Take any victories wherever you can.

I have to take issue with your conclusion that the best thing is Ricki... she is loud and talkative. She is trying her best, but, a seasoned Game Show veteran would have been a much better choice in my opinion. And what was up with Hole in One not being Hole in One or Two???? oh well... I had such high hopes for the show too.

I am not too impressed with GSM to this point. I agree that I think LMAD is boring but these shows feel like they are dragging along. I dont want to "meet" the clebs because I already know the clebs. I think it would be better if there were 'real' players on these shows... The only one I am waiting on is Press Your Luck! I'll make sure to wear my whammy shirt to work on that day! :-)

The best thing has been Rikki? Um, no. It was unfortunate that the TPIR games had consequences about as unexciting as they could be, particularly Plinko, and they should have moved up the younger-appeal PYL ahead of LMAD and Beat the Clock. If you were bored by LMAD, just wait till Beat the Clock airs ...

I thought GSM would be the highlight of my summer, I too am underwhelmed. Ricki should stick to B-rate John Waters films. Marc Summers should have been the obvious choice.

I thought GSM was flat on Night 1 with TPIR, wich I personally scored it a 6.5. Night 2 however, showed me GSM has potential. I too personally scored it a 7.5. Next week is a pivotal week for GSM. The biggest issue for me so far is Ricki Lake. She's still has some work to do if she wants to get on my good side. Otherwise, I won't score anything higher than an 8 on the rest of the series.

I am really waiting on Press Your Luck and Card Sharks. I dont think she did too bad on Price Is Right and Let's Make a deal I just think having celebrities play is a bit nuts but they are doing this to see if any game show fans would like to see any of these shows back well we already have The Price Is Right and Family Feud so I would like to see Press Your Luck, Card Sharks and Match Game come back. Since it wouldnt be likely that i would get my shot at hosting Press Your Luck or Card Sharks unless I became a comedian or a radio jockey. I would like to see someone good hosting these shows. I think having Marc Summers hosting Card Sharks would be interesting and having either Donny Osmond or Todd Newton host Press Your Luck if it came back but maybe there are better selections I dont know.

People better start watching and writing?
Nice ultimatum, Alex. That's going to help so much.

Alex Davis has such a big ego like Steve B.

I'm going to write CBS and suggest that they put The Price is Right back on the air.

"People better start watching and writing if they want their shows back."
Sorry, but I have a little difficulty placing all of the blame on the viewers.
GSM better start making the shows a little more watchable if they expect people to be watching and writing!
No one wants to see game shows make a real comeback more than I; but bringing back even the best classic shows as lackluster remakes just isn't going to get people motivated to clamor for more.
As for Ricki Lake, she's doing an "okay" job, but I think the best thing about GSM is the games themselves. And isn't that the whole point?

Alex's ego is growing bigger every day.
