  • "Deal or No Deal" Season Finale: June 5th
    Monday, April 17, 2006
May I say thank you, NBC, from the bottom of my heart. NBC announced they are going to give "Deal or No Deal" a MUCH deserved summer break. The season finale will air on June 5th and will be sent off with a giant prize pool, that of which we don't know (we'll get ahold of NBC). NBC stated they are not going to use the show again until September, hoping to land it only once a week, with twice a week as a last resort. It will, most likely, air Mondays at 8PM ET. "Deal" has won every timeslot it has aired in (except for when "American Idol" switched places.) According to B&C, it will have aired 33 hours of Deal within this one season alone.

“It's a big hit right now, but it's making me nervous,” says Regis Philbin, who hosted the ABC version of Millionaire through its meteoric rise and its fall. “It's getting a big number for them and they could use the numbers. But I hope they don't run it into the ground.”

David Goldberg, president of Endemol USA, stated “Three times a week for an extended period of time is too much, and I've been very vocal about that. We are constantly talking to NBC, and they get it. We have a great relationship.”

The syndicated version is also still in planning. Just hours after Kingworld and Sony announced their syndicated game show hour, Goldberg had this to say. “We'd love to see it play as a daytime strip. It would be important to preserve the key elements of the game but not have it be an absolute facsimile of the network show.” This is planned for Fall 2007 or Fall 2008.
