  • Did ABC Really Lose "Who Wants to be a Millionaire?"
    Monday, April 17, 2006
We were tipped off by this today. ABC has erased all existance of "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" from their website. The online game is completely gone. We googled the show, and ABC says the page is missing. This includes "Super Millionaire". There are heavy rumors that the "Millionaire-Play It!" attraction is leaving Walt Disney World. The current host of "Millionaire", Meredith Vieira, is heading to NBC. Again, this is still in the Rumor Has It file, but all signs are pointing that ABC has lost the rights to Millionaire, which were rumored to be gone in April/May 2006. Hey NBC: Need something that's a hit and cheaper than "Joey" to make?

Update: ABC is giving no comment about losing the rights to Millionaire. When a network doesn't give a comment, it's at least, in my experience, the truth. Take that for what you will. But, again, this is still in the rumor mill until we get official word. I did confirm with many people, though, that it was stated at Game Show Congress 4 that ABC does lose the rights to Millionaire in May 2006. It's nearly too late. So we'll be hearing about "Millionaire"'s new contestant call, or........... *cough*NBC*cough*.
